Festival of Light
Festival of Light was a school celebration with Paul Myoda, acclaimed artist and dedicated parent of two HBS alumnae. Mr. Myoda’s sculpture, Tribute in Light, is one of the most internationally recognized artistic responses to the tragedy of 9/11. In a collaborative effort, Mr. Myoda, John Diego Arango, and my colleague Lorraine Downes joined forces to create a performance piece that included song, light, artistry, community, and technology. Every student created an electrified vessel that emitted light. Vessel designs included a variety of styles, from triangular prisms to elaborate box-kite designs. The celebration included a procession of light and song, culminating in Mr. Myoda presenting the students with an overview of his work.
