Study of Photographers and History
This collaborative project included: development of observational skills in a natural setting, development of scientific and artistic sketches, the study of photographers and history of camera use and development, study of and use of natural materials for dyes and painting, construction of and use of a pinhole camera and connections with photographs, drawings, and materials to produce and exhibit a student-centered timeline and display.
“An overall aim of [the project] approach is to cultivate the life of a young child’s mind. In its fullest sense, the term mind includes not only knowledge and skills but also emotional, moral, and aesthetic sensibilities” (Katz & Chard 1989,3).
